FAQ

What should I look for in a wedding photographer?

Stepping in front of the lens can be...nerve wracking. I am a photographer and after 5 years, I still get nervous in front of the camera! Its important that you choose a photographer that you are comfortable with. Ask yourself these questions: Are they friendly? Would they get along with my family and friends? Do they make me feel comfortable? Your wedding day happens once so its important to choose a photographer that will join in your day with you- laugh with you, cry with you and help you capture natural and amazing moments.

Why choose a professional photographer over your lovely cousin Sarah?

Lets be honest. In this day and age, everyone has a camera. Heck, everyone has access to pretty great cameras, not to mention the sweet features on an iphone. But here is the deal. You only can live that moment once. There is one first kiss. There is one first dance. Leave it to the professionals who have been there and have documented weddings before! Wedding photography is the only detail that will live on, passed your dress and your beautiful cake....don't run the risk of leaving it up to someone inexperienced. Besides, Maggie might want to shake it on the dance floor anyway!

How much can I expect to pay for wedding photography?

With Amy Leah, packages range between $2400-$3900. After all is said and done, my clients generally spend between $2900-$3900.

Can you duplicate different styles that I have seen?

I am so happy that you came to Amy Leah for your wedding, engagement or portrait photography. What you see from my style is what you are going to get! I will always accommodate photo suggestions but I am a natural light, intimate photographer. I don't generally do black and white with an item in color or work with props or backdrops. If you like what you see, or have any questions- hit me up: amy@amyleah.com.

Do you give discounts? Can you work with my budget?

Every bride knows...weddings can be overwhelming. As your engagement rolls on, its hard to overlook the unavoidable momentary panic attack when you realize all that goes into planning an occasion of this magnitude! TRUST ME, boy do I get it! ((You can read about my wedding story here.)) However, after the cake is obliterated by your sugar hungry guests, the catering has all been devoured, the empty champagne bottles clink together in the bottom of the trash bin, your perfect hair is ready for a good shower, the flowers are wilted and the dress is put away in the attic..photography is the only thing that allows you to relive your wedding day again. When you consider the big responsibility your images have in your big day, the last thing you want to do is search for a discounted photographer...the lesson is as true as the day is bright- you will get what you pay for. Amy Leah is priced according to the level of service, attention and quality of memories you will receive. Invest in your photography so that you can relive your memories for years to come.

How far in advance should I book my session?

For portrait sessions, I book anywhere from two weeks to 2 months out depending on availability. A 50% retainer is required to hold your date regardless of the length of time before your session. Contact me for more information at amy@amyleah.com

How long will it take to get my images back?

Great question! Portrait sessions take 2-4 weeks to get your images back. Weddings take 8-10 weeks to get your images back. If you have a deadline, just ask!

What should I wear?

I love this question. Fashion and style is one of the best features of any session. Wear what makes you feel beautiful! If you love hot pink and it makes you feel like a complete rock star- well then you wear it! I love to see brides pull off funky shoes or a sweet leopard sweater over their wedding dress...do what makes you feel vibrant and beautiful. I suggest, in a group setting, to not mix too many patterns (plaid, polka-dot, checkers and sequence) or couple any clashing color combos together that would draw too much attention from the moment. Don't get me wrong- I love a sassy girl with some color blocking but be aware of what you are putting together. Need a little inspiration??? Should I hire a make-up artist?

You are in luck!! If you want to kick your session up a notch, Amy Leah has their very own make-up artist from Motives Cosmetics, Crowned by Rae (insta: @crownedbyrae) ready to take you to GLAM for your session. Please contact me for pricing and availability for your session date- she is also available for weddings.

Do you have recommendations for other wedding vendors?

Every Amy Leah client will receive a full list of vendors that I love and approve of! Its so important to hire the right people with a great track record.
